Trace your patterns onto a sturdy cloth like surface that not only is easily see-through and allows the pattern to show through clearly but also is stronger than regular tracing paper, it doesn't rip easily but cuts cleanly and smoothly.

Sewing paper is almost fabric like in it's make up, to the extent that once you trace your pattern you can use it to make a trial version of your garment, making darts and revisions directly onto the tracing paper.

You can sew your garment, try it out before cutting your expensive fabric.

You can draw on this paper with pencil, felt tips, ballpoints, gel ink they all give a good effect and don't bleed at all. But if you don't want to mark the original pattern through the paper best to use ballpoint.

10 metres gives plenty of scope for lots of creative dressmaking.
